Kirk & Sweeney was the name of a schooner which sailed regularly between the Caribbean and North America’s east coast in the early 20th century, supplying Caribbean rum to quench the thirst of American throats in the years of the Prohibition.
The schooner was eventually arrested in 1924, but the name was preserved in the brand of Dominican rums. They come from an undisclosed distillery and are matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Kirk & Sweeney Reserva is a rum manufactured in accordance with Dominican tradition, from sugar cane molasses. It matured for 12 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Nose: Cane honey, vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, dried fruits.
Palate: Vanilla, oak, molasses, almonds.
Finish: Long, with notes of nuts and almonds.
