Millstone 92 Single Rye is another unique whisky from the Dutch Zuidam distillery.
Presented here, distilled on May 15, 2015 from 100% rye (49% malted and 51% unmalted), milled 100% in traditional Dutch windmills and aged 100% in American oak barrels. We will only repeat after the producer that this is 100% small batch whisky produced 100% by hand (we will add from ourselves bottled on February 10, 2020 at 46% abv). Zuidam Distillery has been operating since 1975 and produces 280,000 liters of pure alcohol per year. In addition to rye whisky, its offer includes single malts and whiskies distilled from three and five grains.
Nose : sweet and spicy, lemon and orange peel, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, rye bread toast, vanilla, caramel and oak.
Palate: quite spicy, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, orange zest, honey, vanilla, brown sugar, rye toast with butter, mint leaf, notes of anise and oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, allspice, nutmeg, oak and a bit of fruit.
