Dos Maderas rums are blends of spirits from Barbados and Guyana, where some of the best rums in the world come from.
The Barbados rums and light and smooth, whereas those from Guyana have considerably more body, and are perfect for using in blends to give the final product this extra dimension. Such a blend of rums matures in traditional American oak casks, which previously held American bourbon. After that period of maturation in the Caribbean climate, they are transported to Spain, to the Williams & Humbert Bodega in Jerez de la Frontera, one of the largest wineries in the world. They are transferred to oak casks that previously held Dos Cortados or Don Guido sherry, each of which had spent at least 20 years in the wood.
Dos Maderas Luxus is a rum that spent 10 years maturing in oak barrels in the tropics of the Caribbean, after which it is transported to Spain, where it is filled into American oak barrels that previously held the renowned Don Guido Pedro Ximenez sherry. The second, Spanish stage of maturation takes place in a solera system and lasts 5 years.
Nose: Dates, almonds, white fruits and molasses.
Palate: Marzipan, dried fruits, honey, vanilla, notes of wood.
Finish: Long, oaky.
