Based in Perthshire in the southern Highlands, Deanston Distillery began operations in 1966 in buildings that had previously housed a cotton mill.
Since 1990, it has been owned by the Scottish company Burn Stewart Distillers, which was acquired by the Distell Group from South Africa in 2013. Deanston produces around 3 million liters of distillate per year, most of which goes to the Scottish Leader blend, which sells over 6 million bottles per year. Deanston Kentucky Cask Matured is a proposal from spring 2020, a young whisky aged in first and refill Kentucky barrels previously used to mature bourbon and rye whiskey.
Aroma: slightly alcoholic, barley malt, linseed, honey, toffee, vanilla, biscuits, a bit of white pepper and oak shavings.
Taste: brown sugar, honey, vanilla, toffee, a hint of cinnamon and white pepper and a light bitterness of oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of malted barley, vanilla, honey, hay and oak.
