Product description
Matusalem rum is currently produced in the Dominican Republic, but its roots lie in Cuba.
The Matusalem brand saw the light of day in 1872 in Santiago de Cuba, the brainchild of three partners, the brothers Benjamin and Eduardo Camp, and their partner Evaristo Alvarez. They decided that their rum should be given a name that would free it from changing trends and the passage of time. Matusalem is an obvious reference to the biblical figure, the oldest man mentioned in the Old Testament, who according to legend lived for 969 years. As with other rum brands that did not get along with the Cuban authorities after the end of the revolution in 1959, Matusalem had to find another home. It found it in the Dominican Republic.
