Product description
The Caol Ila Distillery was built in 1846 by Hector Henderson. Bulloch Lade & Co., Glasgow blended whisky producers, purchased the distillery in 1863 and owned it until 1920.
That same year, Bulloch Lade & Co. filed for bankruptcy, and its assets were taken over by a consortium led by DCL. Seven years later, DCL became the sole owner and reactivated Bulloch Lade & Co. as a subsidiary. It finally ceased to exist in 2007. The Caol Ila 15 years old presented here was bottled in the early 1980s by Bulloch Lade & Co. for the Italian importer Zenith Italia. The whisky is presented in gold-plated ceramic jugs.
Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to taste this whisky, from the information we found about it it appears to be an "old school" drink, perfectly balanced, with notes of walnuts, orange, quince jam, marzipan, toffee, green tea, mature cheese, a bit of grass, the breath of the earth after rain and peat smoke in the background.
