Founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, Signatory Vintage is today a leading independent publisher and distributor of whisky, respected by consumers.
Signatory has a tradition, much appreciated by whisky lovers, of labelling each cask strength edition with information on the type and number of cask, the date of filling and bottling, and the number of bottles to which the release is limited. The Bunnahabhain presented here is the company’s offering in the prestigious Cask Strength Rare Reserve Collection, a whisky distilled on 16 December 1973, aged for over four decades in a refill sherry butt (no. 12145) and bottled at cask strength (47.9% abv) on 11 January 2016 in an edition of 427 bottles.
Nose : sea breeze, salted almonds, baked apples, honeydew melon, mango, raisins, caramel, dark chocolate, honey, notes of potpourri and sherry-soaked oak.
Palate: rich, nectarines, figs, passion fruit, banana cake, chocolate biscuits, salted caramel, roasted nuts and almonds, candied ginger and a touch of peat.
Finish: long, with notes of tropical fruits, raisins, dark chocolate, honey, nutmeg, sea salt, pepper, sherry and oak.
