Évadé single malt was introduced in the late fall of 2019 by Whiskies du Monde, the company founded in 1999 by Alain Ponyoizeau, former executive of Allied Domecq.
(In 2005 Allied Domecq, then the third producer of alcoholic beverages in the world, was acquired by Pernod Ricard and Fortune Brands.) Whiskies du Monde is located in Mérignac near Bordeaux and specializes in importing and distributing high-end spirits from around the world. The company does not disclose, which French distillery supplied whisky for the Évadé brand. Évadé Peated was double distilled in copper Charente stills from barley malted with Hamburg peat to specification of 35ppm phenols, and aged in bourbon casks (Heaven Hill) and American oak casks for four to seven years then bottled of natural color and without chill filtration. Nose: straightforward – smoky, floral.
Palate: delicate – caramel flan, vanilla custard, honeysuckle, heather.
Finish: elegant – floral, herbaceous.
