Product description
Glenfarclas The Family Casks collection was launched in 2007 and featured whiskies from the finest casks the distillery had in stock, bottled in its natural state.
It consisted of 43 bottles, each containing a different vintage of whisky, distilled between 1952 and 1994. The Family Casks was a unique edition, without parallel, offering a cross-section of the distillery’s 43-year history. The one presented here is a continuation of that ambitious project, part of a new phase of The Family Casks collection – distilled in 1972, it spent almost four decades in a sherry butt no. 3551, the contents of which on 30th May 2011 translated into 565 bottles of cask strength whisky (44.7% abv).
Nose: very elegant, honey, toffee, cocoa powder, raisins, dried figs, nutmeg, crème brûlée, a pinch of black pepper, notes of leather, tobacco and sherry-soaked oak.
Palate : complex, clear sherry notes, chocolate-covered cherries, raisins, prunes, hazelnuts, Christmas fruit cake, nutmeg, candied ginger and beautifully woven oak.
Finish: long, with notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts and almonds, dried fruit, nutmeg, leather and sherry-soaked oak.
