Product description
Whitley Neill Gin, a Johnny Neill creation, debuted in 2005 in the Halewood Wine & Spirits portfolio. Neill is an eighth generation distiller from the famous Greenall Whiteley distilling family.
He claims that his “British-made gin is inspired by Africa.” He owes this inspiration to his wife, who was born in Africa, who encouraged him to experiment with botanicals from the Black Continent. The gin formula includes baobab fruit and edible physalis, while the traditional side of the recipe is represented by juniper berries, coriander, orris and angelica roots, cassia bark, lemon and orange peel. It is distilled at Langley Distillery in a copper still that is over a hundred years old. In recent years, Whitley Neill has expanded its range of gins with flavored versions, currently there are around 10 of them. The Pink Grapefruit Gin presented here debuted in early 2019, and its formula includes pink grapefruits. In order to achieve the optimal intensity of a particular botanical, the recipes of flavored gins are subject to slight modifications (they do not contain African ingredients). In this case, licorice, chamomile, lime blossoms, balsam herb, and cloves were also used.
Whiteley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin is another well-balanced gin from this producer. This time, delicate notes of juniper and a touch of cinnamon provide a backdrop for an eruption of citrus, especially pink grapefruit. We recommend serving it with Fever Tree Citrus Tonic Water and a sprig of rosemary.
