Built in 1895, Dufftown Distillery is based in, as you might guess, the capital of Scotch whisky, Dufftown.
In 1933 it was taken over by Arthur Bell & Sons and since then it has remained closely associated with Bell's blends. Currently equipped with three pairs of stills it produces 6 million liters of distillate per year. In 2006 Dufftown was included in the Singleton series and within a few years significantly strengthened its position on the European market. The whisky presented here, distilled in August 1995, spent over 18 years in a sherry butt cask no. HL 10378. Bottled in March 2014 in the prestigious Old Malt Cask series, without chill filtration, with an alcohol content of 50%, in an edition consisting of 589 bottles.
Nose: fruity and slightly grassy, apples, pears, bananas, vanilla, sweet breakfast cereals, cocoa powder, honey, notes of hay and oak.
Palate: apples, greengages, pears, lemon zest, honey, milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla cream, a mixture of fresh herbs and a touch of oak.
Finish : quite long, a combination of milk chocolate, summer fruits, herbs and oak tannins.
