The Bushmills Steamship Collection debuted in spring 2016 at Travel Retail.
It is inspired by the maiden voyage of the SS Bushmills to America in the late 19th century with a cargo of Bushmills whiskey and the ship’s return with its holds filled with rum, fortified wines and bourbon. The series was heralded by Sherry Cask Reserve, in November 2016 it hit the market with Port Cask Reserve, a year later #3 Char Bourbon Cask Reserve, and finally 2018 brought Rum Cask Reserve. The whiskey is drawn from first-fill Caribbean rum barrels, which translates into a sun-drenched sweetness of the tropics. The Steamship Collection is bottled without an age statement, at 40% ABV.
Aroma: sweet, vanilla, milkshake, brown sugar, oranges, tangerines, apricots, coconut milk, cinnamon and a hint of licorice.
Palate : sweet, pineapples, candied orange peel, coconut flakes, vanilla, white chocolate, cinnamon buns, candied ginger and a hint of oak.
Finish : medium long, sweet, with notes of tropical fruits, vanilla cream, toffee, sultanas, a pinch of cinnamon and oak.
