Product description
Ballechin is an estate in Perthshire, home to the farm distillery, which ceased operations in 1927.
In 2006 Edradour Distillery resurrected the brand with a release of Ballechin # 1, as part of The Discovery Series. It was young, heavily peated whisky aged solely in first fill Burgundy casks. In 2014 the 10 years old Ballechin, a marriage of ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks whiskies, debuted in the distillery core range.
Nose: initially medicinal, soon reveals leather and tobacco notes; in the background traces of vanilla, honey and hints of spice.
Palate: smoky, with distinctive sherry notes, dark chocolate, dried fruit, slight antiseptic notes.
Finish: medium long, dry, ashy, lapsang sauchong tea with dash of vanilla.
