Cody Road Rye Whiskey is a product of Mississippi River Distilling Company founded by brothers Ryan and Garrett Burchett in 2010 in Le Claire, Iowa.
The microdistillery produces vodka, gin, bourbon and rye whiskey. Cody Road Rye debuted in 2012 to critical and consumer acclaim. Distilled from 100 percent rye grown within 25 miles of the distillery and aged in small, 30-gallon American oak barrels, the brand is named after the legendary William “Buffalo Bill” Cody, who was born in Le Claire in 1846. Buffalo Bill was involved in whiskey shipping and personally favored rye whiskey.
Aroma : more fruity than spicy, apricots, plums, orange peel, summer meadow, honey, vanilla, pepper, notes of cinnamon and mint.
Palate : mild, rye bread toast, brown sugar, maple syrup, grapefruit, mirabelle plums, apples, pepper, ginger and a bit of oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of white pepper, summer fruits, vanilla and oak.
