Product description
Johnnie Walker is a blended whisky brand with two notable exceptions: Green Label and Odyssey. Green Label is a continuation of the 1996 debut of the Pure Malt edition, designated by the producer as “Extra Special Highland Malt Whisky”. The original recipe listed 9 single malts: Cragganmore, Glen Elgin, Glen Ord, Linkwood, Mortlach, Teaninich, Royal Brackla, Royal Lochnagar and Clynelish. About 10 years later, Diageo slightly changed the whisky formula and its name to Green Label “The Art of Pure Malt”. Johnnie Walker Green Label was withdrawn from sale at the end of 2012, but three years later it was back in the basic offer. The pillars of the current Green Label formula are Talisker, Caol Ila, Linkwood and Cragganmore, and the bottle presented here is from 2016.
Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year Old Blended Malt is great to drink on its own or with a few drops of water to bring out the fruity and smoky notes. With ice for a milder character and with grilled dishes, cheese or chocolate.Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year Old Blended Malt is a whisky with two faces, on the one hand an accessible blend introducing the world of peat and complexity of blended malts, and on the other a product that does not meet the expectations of single malt purists. Despite the controversy, it remains a cult choice.
