In late spring 2018, Inver House Distillers launched its new Old Pulteney Distillery range (the previous year, the 17 and 21 year olds had disappeared due to stock shortages).

It includes 12-, 15- and 18-year-old whiskies, as well as Huddart bottled without an age statement. The 25-year-old version, which was part of the core range, is maintained as a limited edition. The Old Pulteney 18 years old presented here, like the 15-year-old version, is made from distillates aged in first-fill and refill bourbon casks and finished in fresh Oloroso sherry butts. Pulteney Distillery is equipped with one pair of stills and produces 1.6 million litres of distillate per year.

Nose : clear notes of sherry, dark chocolate, honey, caramel, baked apples, dried plums and apricots, cinnamon, a touch of nutmeg and tobacco and light oak tones.

Palate: chocolate cake, toffee, cocoa powder, honey, oranges, apples, salted caramel, cinnamon, allspice, notes of tobacco and sherry-soaked oak.

Finish: long, with notes of dark chocolate, dried plums and dates, tobacco, oak, sea salt, a pinch of pepper and nutmeg
