Elephant German Sloe Gin / 35%/ 0.5l
- Elephant Gin, launched 2013, is made in Germany and inspired by African wildlife.
Product description
Elephant, a German gin inspired by African nature, debuted in 2013.
Its creators, Robin Gerlach, Tessa Wienker and Henry Palmer, decided to create an alcoholic beverage based on local ingredients while traveling around South Africa, the profit from the sale of which will be donated to the protection of endangered African animal species. In fact, 15% of the profit from the brand's sales goes to the Big Life Foundation and Space for Elephants. Elephant Gin is distilled in Wittenberg using 14 botanicals, including several African ones that have never been used in gin formulas before. Devil's claw, African wormwood, carbolistka and wild dauga come from South Africa, baobab from Malawi, cinnamon bark from Indonesia, ginger from China, allspice from Mexico, mountain pine from Austria, black elder from Poland and Ukraine, orange peel from Spain, apples from Germany, lavender and juniper from several European countries. An additional ingredient of the gin presented here are sloes, macerated for several months in standard Elephant gin.
"Elephant Sloe Gin has an intriguing, light red colour and an integrated, slightly sweet aroma and flavour palette. The addition of a small amount of sugar tempers the tartness of the sloe fruit without the need for unnatural flavour and aroma supplements."
