Caol Ila Distillery was built in 1846 by Hector Henderson. Bulloch Lade & Co., Glasgow blended whisky producers, took over the business in 1863 and remained its owners until 1920.

That same year, Bulloch Lade & Co. filed for bankruptcy and its assets were seized by a consortium led by DCL. Just seven years later, DCL became their sole owner and reactivated Bulloch Lade & Co. as a subsidiary. It finally ceased to exist in 2007. Here we present Caol Ila 15 years old bottled at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s by Bulloch Lade & Co. It is one of the few editions from that period offered at 100 British Proof (57% abv).

Nose: strong fruity notes, apples, pears, cantaloupe, buttered toast, vanilla, white pepper, a trace of anise, a bit of iodine, peat smoke and sea breeze.

Taste: well balanced, salt and pepper, iodine, licorice, smoked oysters, vanilla, toffee, apples, gooseberries, quince jelly, peat smoke and a bit of oak.

Finish: very long, salty and peaty, with notes of vanilla, fresh fruit and a pinch of white pepper.
