Jim Beam Kentucky Dram is a whiskey that we can classify according to our own preferences – hybrid, crossbreed, fusion – to name just a few.
Marketing specialists from the Beam Suntory concern created a drink combining two different types of whisk(e)y, bourbon and single malt. Kentucky Dram is formally a blend composed of 95% Jim Beam White Label bourbon and 5% Ardmore single malt. It debuted in the summer of 2015 in the Travel Retail chain. As we remember, Beam Suntory has distilleries in the USA, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Spain and Japan, which makes us wonder whether Kentucky Dram is a single release or a herald of a new category?
Aroma: vanilla, caramel, buttered toast, toasted oak, delicate scent of apple blossom, a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Taste : lots of vanilla and oak, caramel, honey, pepper, green apples and a fleeting note of peat smoke in the background.
Finish: medium long, oaky, with notes of vanilla, pepper and a bit of peat.
