It combined traditional bourbon (for export and duty-free shops) and American blended whiskey aimed at the local market. Four Roses' status in the US, once a leading brand, had hit rock bottom, and it was not until its acquisition in 2001 by the Japanese company Kirin that the multi-year process of returning to its former glory began. Four Roses bourbon is distilled according to two recipes - 75 or 60% corn, 20 or 35% rye and 5% malted barley. The distillates are blended before bottling, which helps maintain a uniform profile of the drink.
Aroma : light and fragrant, vanilla, toffee, lemon and orange peel, potpourri, notes of oak and garden herbs.
Taste: mild and pleasantly balanced, vanilla, milk fudge, buttery bread, honey, milk chocolate and subtle notes of spices and oak.
Finish: not too long, delicate and slightly floral, with notes of vanilla, honey, caramel and toasted oak.
