Product description
Amrut is a family-owned company based in Bangalore, southern India, that produces approximately 50 million bottles of distilled alcoholic beverages per year, including 1.4 million bottles of whisky.
Blended whisky appeared in its offer in the 1980s. Single malt debuted in 2004 in Europe and only 6 years later in its native India. The distillery distills from local barley malted without peat and from "peated" malt imported from Scotland. Amrut Portonova is a single malt that undergoes a rather complicated maturation process. It begins in first-fill and refill bourbon barrels, then goes to port barrels for a few months, and returns to bourbon barrels for the final months. The whisky is bottled without cold filtration, with an alcohol content of 62.1%. It debuted in late 2011.
