Islay Journey is a blended malt whisky from the portfolio of Hunter Laing & Co., founded by Stewart Laing following the split from his parent company Douglas Laing & Co.

It is part of the so-called "Journey series", with which we travel through the regions of Scotch whisky production. Each stage of it ends with a blended malt composed of distillates most characteristic of a specific district. Islay Journey is a great culmination of a trip around the iconic island of Islay and the ten distilleries operating on it; the youngest of them is Ardnahoe, operating since autumn 2018, owned by Hunter Laing & Co. The formula of Islay Journey remains the secret of the creator; in 2022, the company changed the label design. The oldest distillate Ardnahoe reached maturity (3 years) on November 3, 2021, but we do not think it was included in the whisky presented here.

Nose : peat smoke and ash, tarred ropes, salty breeze, barley malt, vanilla, bananas, lemon jam, notes of licorice, leather and oak.

Palate : peat smoke and sea breeze, seaweed salad, lemon peel, vanilla, banana bread, ginger, white pepper and a pinch of sea salt.

Finish: quite long, with notes of smoke, iodine, vanilla, sea salt, lemon pepper and oak.
