Deanston Dragon's Milk Stout Cask Finish / 50.5%/ 0.7l
- Deanston Distillery was founded in 1966 but its buildings go back to 1785 and originally hosted a cotton mill (the vaulted weaving shed has been serving as a warehouse).
Product description
Deanston Distillery began operation in 1966 after converting the buildings of an 18th-century cotton mill (its weaving mill was used for storage).
After a few years of relative success, distilling ceased in 1982 and only resumed when it was acquired by Burn Stewart Distillers in 1990. Equipped with two pairs of stills, the distillery can produce 3 million litres of spirit per year. Deanston is a key component of the Scottish Leader blend, which sells over 6 million bottles per year globally. The Deanston shown here, distilled in December 2012, was aged in American oak barrels before being finished in barrels that had previously held Dragon's Milk stout from New Holland Brewing Company. The whisky was bottled at 50.5% abv, unchill-filtered.
