Product description

In spring 2019, Balvenie Distillery announced a new whisky series, the Balvenie Stories Collection. Each of the three editions in the collection is accompanied by a story related to the history of the distillery and its employees.

The Week of Peat, the second part of the triptych and twin sister to Balvenie Peat Week, which debuted in autumn 2017, commemorates Ian Millar, the distillery’s former manager. In 2001, he made a short trip to Islay and, on his return, ordered a batch of peat (the distillery malts its own barley). A year later, Balvenie Distillery began distilling from malt with a phenol concentration of 30ppm. Balvenie The Week of Peat is aged in American oak barrels for 14 years and bottled at 48.3% abv.

Nose: sweet and smoky, with beautifully woven floral notes, honey, vanilla, milk fudge, orange jam, apples, pears, roasted nuts and oak.

Palate: pleasantly balanced, peat smoke, vanilla, honeycomb, brown sugar, oranges, apricots, apples, pears, cinnamon, traces of cloves and licorice.

Finish: quite long, with notes of vanilla cream, honey, summer fruits, oak, a touch of spice and a whiff of peat smoke.
