Product description
The expansion, completed in 2011, made Glen Ord the fifth largest single malt distillery in Scotland, with a potential of 11 million litres of alcohol per year. But Glen Ord is not just a distillery.
In the immediate vicinity we also find a malting house, which began operations on 1 April 1968 and currently malts around 37,000 tonnes of barley per year. The limited edition presented here, Glen Ord Maltings 25th Anniversary, was released on 17 June 1993 and contains whisky distilled in 1969 and bottled at 60%. It is an extremely elegant drink and despite its 60% abv we suggest tasting it without adding water.
Aroma: delicate, fruity and slightly malty, pears, peaches, tangerines, banana cake, raisins, honey, traces of autumn leaves and wax.
Palate: complex, peaches, apples, quince in sweet brine, raisins, brown sugar, traces of wax and hay, licorice, walnuts and some oak.
Finish: medium long, fruity and slightly grassy with notes of licorice and oak.
