Speyburn Distillery has been producing whisky since 1897. Currently is owned by Inver House and after recent expansion its capacity increased to 4.2 million liters of spirit per annum. Speyburn 27 years old was distilled in 1973 when the distillery was part of DCL, predecessor of Diageo. It was released as a part of Highland Selection, a range of limited edition single malts from Inver House five distilleries, selected by the distillery managers.
Nose: richly fruity, raisins, dates, figs, slightly leafy and earthy, heather, bees’ wax and oak.
Palate: smooth and rich, dark chocolate, marzipan, dried fruits, sweet spices, oak and delicate sherry undertones.
Finish: long and oaky, heather honey and distant peat smoke.
