Extremely limited single cask bottling from the reputable independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co, part of the prestigious Old & Rare Platinum Selection.
Millburn Distillery operated in Inverness between 1807 and 1985 and was closed due to whisky overproduction. The site was acquired by Beefeater restaurant chain and currently hosts The Auld Distillery Steakhouse. The 34 years old expression, part of Douglas Laing Old & rare Platinum Selection, contains whisky distilled in 1970 and bottled at natural strength of 50.9% abv and un-chill filtered. Only 171 bottles were produced.
Nose: rich and powerful, candied orange peel, dried apricots, prunes, chocolate fudge, coffee beans, burnt toast, ginger, hints of peat and wet limestone.
Palate: rich, fruity and spicy, cherries, black grapes, bitter orange marmalade, vanilla custard, hazelnuts, white pepper, ginger and toasted oak.
Finish: not too long, sweet and spicy, vanilla, pepper and oak.
