In 1988 United Distillers (predecessor of Diageo) launched Classic Malts series, which included six most representative Scottish single malts from six regions. Surely, the contenders were the distilleries owned at that time by UD. Ten years later the Distillers Edition range followed up; it contained the same six single malts but finished in various types of wood. Talisker, which represented islands excluding Islay, after spending over 10 years in traditional oak barrels was transferred into Amoroso casks for finishing maturation. The 1993 Vintage was part of the 2006 Distillers Edition release.
