The Borders brand was launched in November 2015 by R&B Distillers as a precursor to the distillery, which will eventually bear its name.
R&B stands for Raasay and Borders, two distilleries, with the former being in operation since 2017 and the latter currently under construction. Borders is very unusual single grain whisky, distilled from mash of 50% wheat and 50% malted barley, matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The company doesn’t disclose the distillery name but states that it comes “from one Highland distillery” (as far as we know there is only one commercial grain distillery located in Scottish Highlands).
