Lauder’s is one of the oldest blended whisky brands; it was created in 1834 by Archibald Lauder, owner of Glasgow’s finest hostelries, who very early realized that providing customers with whisky of quality and consistency is the key to success.
The brand has been owned by MacDuff International, the company founded by Stewart MacDuff, Charles Murray and Edward Thompson in 1992. It was acquired from Allied Distillers along with Islay Mist and Grand Macnish. In 2017 the company celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a release of Lauder’s 25 years old, created from malt and grain whiskies aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Lauder’s 25 years old scored silver medal at the 2017 International Wine & Spirits Competition. Only 2000 bottles were produced.
Nose: rich, prunes, raisins, honey, roasted almonds, tobacco, old leather sofa, nutmeg, licorice, hints of aniseed and sherried oak.
Palate: nicely balanced, raisins, pineapples, dried figs, honey, milk chocolate, golden syrup, candied ginger, nutmeg and delicate oaky bitterness.
Finish: pretty long, with notes of honey, milk chocolate, raisins, mixed nuts and oak.
