The Teeling family whiskey-distilling heritage goes back to 1782, when Walter Teeling set up the distillery in Dublin. Over 200 years later John Teeling bought the disused ethanol distillery, renamed it Cooley and after significant investment started distilling grain and malt whiskeys. In 2011 Teeling sold Cooley Distillery to Jim Beam Global and started Teeling Whiskey Company, an Independent Bottling operation. Teeling’s whiskey line includes single malt, single grain and blended whiskeys and there is not secret that they are sourced from Cooley. Here we got Teeling Single Malt, an extraordinary Irish whiskey aged in five types of wood: sherry, port, Madeira, white Burgundy and Cabernet Sauvignon and bottled at 46% abv without chill-filtration.
Nose: fruity and rich, vanilla, butterscotch, white chocolate, apples, pears, grapes, bananas, honeydew melon and touch of mint.
Palate: quite elegant, candied lemon peel, bananas, figs, butterscotch, honey, raisins, delicate notes of cinnamon and white pepper and touch of oak.
Finish: medium long, fruity and spicy with stronger wood influence.
