Product description
The history of Asbach brandy begins at the end of the 19th century, when Hugo Asbach, previously working for an importer of French cognacs, founded his own company in Rudesheim am Rhine.
His first product, Asbach Uralt, hit the market in 1892, advertised as “Rüdesheim Cognac.” It gained considerable popularity, but the Treaty of Versailles after World War I banned the use of the term “cognac” for spirits from outside the Cognac region. As a result, Asbach changed the classification of its brandy to “Weinbrand,” which was officially recognized in Germany in 1923. The super-premium Asbach Selection presented here is a blend of distillates from the best vintages, aged for at least 21 years.
