Aberfeldy 15yo Exceptional Cask for the House of Whisky

The third edition of whiskies bottled recently especially for the House of Whisky is a beverage from the Aberfeldy distillery.
Aberfeldy Exceptional Cask 15yo Oloroso Sherry is the first ever single cask edition from the Aberfeldy distillery dedicated to the Polish market. The whisky was matured for 15 years in a carefully selected first-fill oloroso sherry cask. The whisky was bottled in its natural form, that is, without cold filtration, without caramel coloring and without dilution (cask strength). The strength of the liquor after 15 years of maturation is 58.8% vol. Edition is limited to 564 bottles.
The barrel bottled for us was selected by Stephanie McLeod, who serves as Malt Master & Master Blender at Dewar & Sons. Aberfeldy 15yo Exceptional Cask offers aberfeldy's signature flavor notes, which are enhanced here with creamy caramel, a touch of dark chocolate and rich notes of figs and dessert-cooked pears. The edition is available for purchase at the House of Whisky Online and stationary stores in Reda, Warsaw and Wrocław.
Aberfeldy is impossible to miss when traversing the Highlands across from Oban to Pitlochry, just outside the town of the same name. The distillery was established during the heyday of the Scottish distilling industry, falling at the end of the 19th century, in 1896. The Victorian stone buildings of the former malt house and malt dryer, topped by an immortal pagoda, were supplemented in 1972 by a spacious alembic hall with huge windows, characteristic of the period, which are essentially the front wall of the building. As you drive past the distillery after dark, you can see the illuminated interior, with four copper alembics, giving the plant a production potential of 3.4 million liters of pure alcohol per year. Situated on the River Tay, the distillery is the jewel in the crown of Dewar & Sons, maker of the well-known blended whiskies.
The distillery was for many years owned by Distillers Company Limited (DCL, the progenitor of today's Diageo), a reminder of which is the Aberfeldy edition that sometimes appears at auction as part of the legendary Flora & Fauna series. In 1998, however, both the Dewars brand and the Aberfeldy distillery were bought by the Bacardi conglomerate. Soon after, a Visitor Centre dedicated to Dewars whisky and its makers was opened on the distillery grounds. Dewar's World of Whisky, as it is called a sort of combination museum and distillery, is considered one of the most interesting attractions of its kind on the distillery-tourism map of Scotland.
Today Aberfeldy is one of the more important and well-known distilleries in the central Highlands. Its core offering consists of 12yo, 16yo and 21yo editions, and is complemented by a number of limited and special editions. An interesting feature is the Aberfeldy 40yo, which is offered on the distillery's premises for self-filling.
Dewar's blended whiskies are also a strength of the manufacturer's offerings, offered both in classic versions and finished in an array of barrels from a variety of spirits, including port, rum, or even mezcal.
In addition to our Aberfeldy 15yo Exceptional Cask, the House of Whisky Online offers a whole host of other single malt whisky from Aberfeldy, as well as an extensive selection of Dewar's blends. We invite you to visit.
