Pih and his Sweet Empire

Piha, or Adam Piechocki, needs no introduction to rap and hip-hop fans in Poland. On the scene for almost a quarter of a century, he debuted in 1999, recorded 13 albums, one of which achieved platinum status and three others gold status. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the Polish hip-hop scene, including Pezet, Chada, Peja, Pro8l3m, Third Dimension and Paktofonika. In total, he has guested on more than a hundred albums by other artists. For those who are not always on the way with rap and hip-hop, it is worth mentioning that Pih has also collaborated with Oddzial Zamknięty and Piotr Fronczewski, artists who are rather not associated with this trend of stage creativity. In short, the man-legend.

Why we write about the rapper in House of Whisky Magazine? Well, because our paths crossed. And in a way that many could at best dream of. For behold, Adam Pih Piechocki has bottled whisky. And this whisky, in its extremely limited authorship, will appear exclusively at House of Whisky Online. And that's exactly today, December 21, 2022.

Sweet Empire is a blended malt whisky, so put together only from malt whiskies, is a blend of several single malt whiskies. As we learn, the pillar of this unusual composition by the Polish rapper is a distillate from the distillery of Loch Lomond, including whiskies distilled in unusual hybrid stills called Lomond stills. This work of the master of Polish hip-hop was complemented by distillate from the distillery Glen Scotia, one of three whisky factories operating in the legendary Campbeltown region.

The individual components of this whisky were matured in Scottish warehouses, in bourbon casks and sherry casks. The last six months of maturation of the new whisky - after the final purchase has already been made - is the period it spent in a single first-fill bourbon barrel, in the warehouses of DMS Barrels, located in Podlasie, Poland. The whisky was bottled as a 48% vol. beverage. Only 357 individually numbered bottles were produced.

Sweet Empire is the beginning of a broader collaboration between Adam Piha Piechocki and the Polish company DMS Barrels, which imports distillates and matures them in its own warehouses, located in the ecologically clean areas of Podlasie.

An interesting feature, adding significantly to the collector's value of the limited edition whisky Sweet Empire, is a CD attached to each bottle, containing two versions of the song "Tears of God" performed by Adam Piha Piechocki.

The premiere of the new whisky has already become a fact, more projects in the pipeline, so - stay tuned! Such an opportunity should not be missed. Meanwhile, Sweet Empire to buy here.
