Murphys Premium Irish Whiskey / 40% / 0.7l
- The original Midleton Distillery started life as a wool mill in 1796 and during the Napoleonic Wars became a military barracks.
Product description
The original Midleton Distillery buildings were built in the late 18th century and initially housed a wool mill, and during the Napoleonic Wars were used as military barracks.
James Murphy and his two brothers bought it in 1825 for £4,000 and adapted it to produce whiskey and stout. The new Midleton Distillery was established in 1975 and continued to produce Murphys Premium Irish Whiskey until the beginning of the new century. It was a blend of equal parts 10-year-old malt whiskey and 3- and 4-year-old grain whiskeys. We believe the bottle shown here is from the 1990s.
