Product description
The Benmore Distillery was built in Campbeltown by Bulloch, Lade & Co. in 1868. In 1920 the distillery was purchased by Benmore Distillers Ltd, owner of the Lochhead and Lochindaal distilleries and from 1921 by the Dallas Dhu Distillery.
Benmore Distillery ceased operations in 1927 and two years later Benmore Distillers Ltd., together with its assets, became part of DCL (Distillers Company Limited) and operated as a subsidiary of the concern. Its main activity was the production and marketing of Benmore blended whisky. The latter was still produced in the new century, mainly for the Thai and Philippine markets. The Benmore Special Reserve presented here dates from the 1980s. Most likely, one of its main components was the single malt Dallas Dhu, but there is no doubt that we will not find a drop of whisky from the original distillery in Campbeltown in it.
