Product description
Maison Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy. His son James gave the company its current name, Jas Hennessy & Co., in 1813.
In 1971, Hennessy merged with Moët et Chandon to create Moët Hennessy, which in turn was acquired by luxury goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton in 1987, giving birth to LMVH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy). Hennessy leads the cognac sales statistics with 7.8 million cases per year (2018), which is almost 40% of the turnover of the entire sector. In 1865, Maurice Hennessy created a classification system for cognacs. Over time, Hennessy 3 Star was renamed Hennessy VS and remains the most popular cognac in the world to this day. It is a blend of about 40 eaux-de-vie aged in Limousin oak barrels for 2.5 to 5 years.
