Product description
Smith & Cross Traditional is a blend of two styles of Caribbean rums – the heavy Wedderburn and the medium Plummer.
Both come from the Hampden Distillery in Jamaica, and are made with molasses and distilled in traditional pot stills. Both are matured in American bourbon barrels, with the Wedderburn rum spending around six months, while the Plummer rum is aged for 18 months to three years. After blending, it is bottled at 57% abv, known as navy strength. This was the strength required for all rums purchased for the British Royal Navy. This strength meant that even if the rum spilled and soaked the gunpowder, it would still burn.
Aroma: Exotic fruits, mainly pineapples, vanilla, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, tobacco.
Taste : Sweet fruit accents, vanilla, cane sugar, cinnamon, roots, tobacco.
Finish: Long, spicy, with echoes of exotic fruits.
