- The style of Glenfiddich, the best selling malt whisky in the world, has not been associated with smokiness.
Product description
The Glenfiddich whisky's aromatic and flavour palette is not usually associated with smoky and peaty elements, but the 2002 Caoran Reserve edition (the name translates to "peat embers") breaks away from the usual canon.
Caoran Reserve was a nod to the 1940s, when coal shortages forced distillers to replace it with peat in the malting process. This whisky is a traditional, fruity Glenfiddich with hints of smoke and peat, but unfortunately its production ceased after four years.
Aroma : fruity with earthy notes, fresh grass, apples, pears, vanilla, toffee, a bit of oak and peat smoke.
Taste : smoky and peaty with a slight mineral note, green apples, pears, sweet breakfast cereals and a slight oak bitterness.
Finish: medium long, dry, mineral with peat smoke in the background.
