King Robert II is a blended whisky from the Ian Macleod Distillers portfolio. It was created by William Maxwell Ltd, whose assets were acquired by Ian Macleod in 1968.
We don’t know much about the formula of the King Robert II blend, in the current one Tamdhu probably plays a big role (the distillery belongs to Ian Macleod). The brand’s annual sales exceed 500 thousand cases and show excellent dynamics – 20% growth in the last few years. It is available in over 40 countries around the world. In 2007, the basic version of King Robert II (presented here) won a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in the category of blended whisky bottled without an age statement.
Aroma: barley malt, vanilla, caramel, honey, multi-berry jam, hay, notes of potpourri and oak shavings.
Taste: malty, cereal, vanilla, caramel, golden syrup, white pepper, notes of tobacco and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of caramel, sugar syrup, a hint of pepper and a slight oak bitterness.
