Product description
Ledaig single malt is produced by Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull.
The distillery was built in 1798 by local merchant John Sinclair. The total period of shutdowns is about a hundred years, with the longest periods being 1837-1878 and 1930-1972. From 1972-1975 the plant operated as the Ledaig Distillery ( Ledaig translates to "Peaceful Haven"), but this ended in bankruptcy. Since 1993 Tobermory has been owned by Burn Stewart Distillers, which shortly after taking over the distillery introduced the single malt Ledaig, distilled from malt with a phenol concentration of 35-40 ppm. The 10-year-old version debuted in 2007 and was awarded a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition the following year .
