The Ultimate Whisky Company is a Dutch company based in Amersfoort.

Founded in 1994 by Han and Maurice van Wees, the company initially specialised in miniature editions. Their whiskies are bottled without chill filtration, either in cask strength or at 46% abv. Since 1994, over 1,000 editions have been released under the ‘The Ultimate’ banner. The ‘Speechside Mystery’ (?Macallan?) presented here was distilled on 23 February 2009 and aged in refill Oloroso sherry butts (DRU no. 17/A197-48-49-53-58) for over 14 years and bottled at 46% abv in May 2023.

Nose: delicate notes of sherry, honey, vanilla pudding, red apples, dried apricots, raisins, lemon jam, sugared almonds, notes of cocoa and oak.

Palate: vanilla, toffee, caramel, milk chocolate, marzipan, raisins, dried apricots, dark berries, nut-almond mixture, allspice, sherry and oak.

Finish: medium long, with notes of toffee, honey, sweet dried fruit, almonds, a touch of cinnamon, ginger and oak.
