Grappa Poli Di Bolgheri Sassicaia 2017 /Tinbox/ 40% / 0.5l
Product description
A producer with a rich, centuries-old tradition. The estate is located on plots of land whose records of vine cultivation date back to the 12th century BC. The ancient Etruscan civilization introduced the first wine traditions long before the Greeks arrived in the area. The first winemaker whose records can be cited today was Waflredo, ancestor of the Della Gherardesca dynasty, which played a fundamental role in the history of the Bolgheri region. For centuries, this area was not modified at all for vine cultivation, fulfilling for a long time a defensive function. It was only at the end of the 17th century that vine cultivation began to develop there, also planting vines in the San Guido and Belvedere estates. The most important role in this area was played by Guidalberto Della Gherardesca, who, by developing the estates and new plantings, basically marked the boundaries of the vineyards in Bolgheri.
After the phylloxera epidemic, winemaking in the region only returned to normal at the beginning of the 20th century. Normal is a relative term here, as the natives of the region and the workers who arrived mainly created simple wines for immediate consumption. It was Mario Incisa Della Rocchetta who began to lay the foundations for today's best wines from the estate, accustomed to the quality of the best French wines. The following decades brought a series of changes, restrictions and regulations, thanks to which today the ancient land can create great modern wines.
Grappa Poli Di Bolgheri Sassicaia 2016 /Tinbox/ 40% / 0.5l
Grappa made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grape pomace, previously used to produce the legendary Sassicaia wine. Aged in the same barrels that previously aged this wine. Very elegant on the nose and full of cocoa, licorice and a touch of vanilla aromas. Expressive and smooth on the palate, gracefully combining ripe fruit flavors with pleasant acidity and a light hint of spices. The finish is long and intense, slightly spicy.
Best served at 16 degrees. Perfect as an elegant digestif after a meal.
