Product description
The Michter's brand is the brainchild of Lou Forman in 1950, then owner of Bomberger Distillery in Shaefferstown, Pennsylvania.
Its name—a combination of Forman’s two sons, Michael and Peter—would soon become the distillery’s name. The distillery went bankrupt in 1989, but the brand returned to the market early in the new century through Chatham Imports, which contracted Kentucky Bourbon Distillers of Kentucky to bottle it. In 2014, Chatham Imports built a new Michter’s Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, which began production in August 2015. Michter’s Straight Rye is bottled in a single barrel at 42.4% abv. The 2022 edition featured here comes from barrel number L22G2357. In recent years, the rye whiskey bottled as Michter’s came from Early Times Distillery.
