Product description
Dalwhinnie is based in the Cairngorn Mountains, at an altitude of 326m, making it the second highest distillery in Scotland (the first being Braeval).
Temperatures in the area rarely rise above 10ºC, and it seems this natural environment was the inspiration for the Winter's Gold edition, which debuted in 2015. It is based on whisky distilled between October and March and, as the producer suggests, "should be served very cold, preferably straight from the freezer."
Nose: fresh and mild, fruity, peaches, oranges, apples, vanilla, honey, ginger, oak chips and traces of wax.
Taste: fresh, fruity and spicy, green apples, candied lemon peel, raisins, pepper, ginger, traces of cinnamon and oak.
Finish: medium long, spicy, pepper, nutmeg, notes of malt and toffee.
