Product description
The Cutty Sark whisky, a 1923 creation of Hugh Rudd, a partner in Berry Bros. & Rudd, is named after the fastest Scottish sailing ship of the time, who in turn borrowed the name from a poem by Robert Burns
“Tam O'Shanter” (Cutty Sark is a short skirt worn by a young witch). This mild blend, designed for the prohibitionist States, was transported to the Bahamas, from where it was smuggled to the Americans. The 12-year-old returned to the market in March 2022 after a few years of absence; since 2018, the brand has been owned by the French company La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, which acquired it from the Edrington Group. Cutty Sark currently records sales of 600,000 cases a year and ranks outside the top 20 most popular Scotch whiskies.
