Product description
The history of Larsen Cognac begins in 1926. Seven years earlier, 24-year-old Norwegian Jens Reidar Larsen set off on a journey to America.
A shipwreck forced a long layover in Bordeaux, and Jens Reidar tried to find work in nearby Charente, famous for its high-class eaux-de-vie. He never returned to the ship, married a local girl and soon became a cognac expert. Today, the third generation of the family runs the company, whose official name is Le Cognac des Vikings SA The Larsen XO presented here is a blend of eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne and Fins Bois growing districts, aged for no less than six years. The company uses only sessile oak barrels (low in tannins) from the Tronçais forests.
Aroma : very elegant, ripe grapes, lime jam, linden flowers, hazelnuts, cinnamon, pepper, a drop of high-class vinaigrette and oak.
Palate : Rich notes of vanilla and oak, Christmas fruitcake, orange peel, raisins, honeyed almonds, cinnamon, allspice and a hint of ginger.
Finish: long and elegant, with notes of dried fruit, vanilla, oak, cinnamon and toasted almonds.
