- For every whisky collector the name Samaroli is a synonymus of the finest quality.
Product description
For every whisky lover, Samaroli is synonymous with the highest quality and beauty. Silvano Samaroli began his career in the whisky market in 1968, focusing on single cask editions.
In 2008, Samaroli left the management of the company in the hands of Antonio Bleve, but he played an active role until his death in February 2017. The Macallan presented here was distilled in 1980 and matured in sherry cask no. 16449 for over two decades. Bottled at 45% abv in 2001 in the Coilltean Selection series in an edition of 876 bottles, The Macallan is now the third most popular single malt (behind Glenfiddich and Glenlivet) with annual sales of just under a million cases.
Master Samaroli described the drink as "full of intense aromas of hazelnut, liqueur, honey, heather, cherries in liqueur and Virginia tobacco. The fullness of flavors is in harmony with the aromas, a very complex single malt."
We have often wondered about the origin of the name "The Macallan". It is said to be a combination of two Gaelic words - "Magh" meaning a piece of fertile land and "Eilean" referring to St. Fillan - which when anglicized would be "Macallan".
