Product description
Bourbon Old Grand Dad is an 1882 creation of Raymond B. Hayden.
Raymond was the grandson of Basil Hayden, known to his friends as “Old Grand-Dad,” who began distilling whiskey in Marion County, Kentucky, in the late 18th century. In 1899, the brand passed into the Wathen family, and since 1987 has been owned by Jim Beam Brands (now Beam Suntory), and is produced at Beam’s distilleries in Clermont and Boston, Kentucky. While Jim Beam bourbons are distilled to a formula of 75% corn, 15% rye, and 10% malted barley, Old Grand-Dad has twice the rye content (30%) and a correspondingly lower corn content (60%). The same formula is used for Basil Hayden. The standard Old Grand-Dad is offered in 40% and 43% ABV, the one presented here is the “lightly fortified” version.
