Product description
Yamazaki, built in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, is Japan's first malt distillery.
Shinjiro, whose mission was to produce local whisky that would appeal to the palette of Japanese consumers, did not foresee that it would achieve global triumph in the 21st century. However, this comes at a price – the lack of sufficient stocks to meet the demand. In 2014, Yamazaki Distillery began issuing the Limited Edition series, announcing subsequent annual editions. They are composed of distillates from different vintages, aged in different types of wood and bottled without an age statement; the company assures that the oldest components spent up to 20 years in barrels. In the case of the 2016 edition, bourbon, sherry and port barrels were used.
